Humans are inherently social beings and maintaining social relationships, whether personally or professionally, has emotional, cognitive, and instrumental benefits. In workplace settings, increas- ing numbers of employees are members of networks on enterprise social media (ESM). Although ESM are designed to be “social,\u201d little is known about if and how these technologies can be sup- portive of meaningful social interactions, like those occurring in physical settings. In recent years, researchers in information systems (IS) have begun to explore the intricacies of ESM and the so- cial ties within them; however, without a fundamental understanding of socialness, its importance in the workplace, and the role that technology \u2013 such as ESM \u2013 can play in enhancing workplace socialness, such empirical efforts are myopic. Hence, to guide future empirical research and pro- vide practical suggestions to organizations, we developed a holistic review of socialness in the past decade (2010-2020), to understand the meaning and the value of socialness in the workplace and digital settings and the role ESM and other technologies play in supporting workplace socialness.\u00a0<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Les humains sont des cr\u00e9atures intrins\u00e8quement sociales, et maintenir des relations sociales, soit personnelles ou professionnelles, a des b\u00e9n\u00e9fices \u00e9motionnels, cognitifs et instrumentaux. Dans des contextes professionnels, un nombre grandissant d\u2019employ\u00e9s sont membres de r\u00e9seaux sur des m\u00e9dias sociaux d\u2019entreprise (MSE). Bien que les MSE soient con\u00e7us pour \u00eatre \u00ab sociaux \u00bb, nous en connaissons peu sur la capacit\u00e9 de ces technologies \u00e0 soutenir des interactions sociales significatives, comme celles se produisant dans des cad- res physiques. Dans les derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, les chercheurs sur les syst\u00e8mes d\u2019information (SI) ont commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 explorer les subtilit\u00e9s des MSE et les liens sociaux au sein de ceux-ci. Cependant, sans une compr\u00e9hension fondamentale de la socialit\u00e9, son importance dans le milieu du travail, et le r\u00f4le de la technologie, comme les MSE, pour am\u00e9liorer la socialit\u00e9 sur les lieux du travail, ce type d\u2019effort empirique manque de vision. Ainsi, pour guider d\u2019\u00e9ventu- elles \u00e9tudes empiriques et offrir des suggestions pratiques aux organisations, nous avons ef- fectu\u00e9 un examen holistique de la socialit\u00e9 dans la derni\u00e8re d\u00e9cennie (2010-2020), pour com- prendre la signification et la valeur de la socialit\u00e9 sur les lieux du travail, dans les contextes num\u00e9riques, et le r\u00f4le des MSE et d\u2019autres technologies qui encouragent la socialit\u00e9 au travail.\u00a0<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
