Wietske Van Osch

Principal Investigator

Wietske Van Osch is an associate professor of digital transformation at HEC Montreal, holding a second appointment at Michigan State University. Her published research has appeared in the Journal of MIS, Journal of IT, Information and Management, and at leading IS conferences (ICIS, ECIS). Dr. Van Osch has received funding from the National Science Foundation, including the prestigious CAREER grant.

Charles Steinfield is a professor in the Department of Media and Information at Michigan State University. He holds a B.A. in Communication from Michigan State University, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Communication Theory and Research from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California.

Brigitte A. Balogh

Brigitte A. Balogh (M.A., The University of Texas at Austin) is a Ph.D. candidate at Michigan State University in Media & Information Studies specializing in Advertising & Public Relations. Her primary areas of research include positive deviance, native advertising, brand communities, and enterprise social software. Her dissertation focuses on brand equity, purchase intent, and consumer engagement intention with social media, and the community and cultural factors impacting these areas.

Benjamin Brophy

Benjamin is a senior honors student in Computational Mathematics and Physics and has a strong interest in big data and data science approaches. Benjamin is our new REU hire and the Data Science Mentor for the 2015-2015 academic year in support of the Honors Research Seminar on Enterprise Social Media: Big Data and Network Analysis.

Clint Dobrinski

Clint is a junior honors student in Communications and has a strong interest in doing research that has an impact. Clint is our new REU hire and Social Science Theory Mentor for the 2015-2016 academic year in support of the Honors Research Seminar on Enterprise Social Media: Big Data and Network Analysis.

Hanqi Li

Hanqi Li is a Research Assistant in the Department of Media and Information at Michigan State University. He is pursuing his B.S in Computer Science and Statistics. He is interested in data science.

Ruth Shillair

Ruth Shillair is a PhD student in media and information studies at Michigan State University. She is interested in understanding human behavior in online spaces in order to facilitate an environment that is safe, inclusive and facilitates generative learning communities. Therefore, her research includes cyber-security, digital divide issues, and learning in massive open online communities.

Ya-Wen (Valerie) Yu

Valerie is a second-year master student in the Department of Media and Information at Michigan State University. She will graduate by the end of July, 2015. She holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Chinese Culture University and a M.I. in Information & Communication from Yuan Ze University in Taiwan.

Yanjie Zhao

Yanjie Zhao is a Research Assistant in the Department of Media and Information at Michigan State University. She received her M.S degree in Computer Science and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Michigan State University. Her research interests span a broad range of data mining problems, from big data analysis, cluster analysis to predictive modeling. She is interested in applying data mining techniques to various application domains including web data mining, text mining and social networks analysis.
