Research Team

Dr.  Wietske Van Osch is the Chairholder of the Canada Research Chair in Enterprise Social Media and Digital Collaboration. She is an Associate Professor of Digital Transformation in the Department of Information Technology at HEC Montreal and an Associate Professor in the Department of Media and Information at Michigan State University. She received her Ph.D. in Economics (Information Systems) from the University of Amsterdam’s Business School. Her research focuses largely on digital transformation and the role of enterprise social media in facilitating collaborative decision-making, team creativity, and knowledge management. In her research, she combines traditional research methods—both quantitative and qualitative— with data science approaches—leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence. Her research work has appeared in leading IS journals, including the Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of Information Technology, Information and Management, and leading conferences, including the International Conference on Information Systems. For her research, Dr. Van Osch has received funding from agencies including the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) – including a prestigious CAREER award – Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), Institut de Valorisation des DOnnées (IVADO), as well as industry. Current research projects involve extensive industry collaborations with several companies, including Steelcase and Leo Burnett, focused on Digital Transformation and Enterprise Social Media.

Pamela Lirio

Co-Applicant, École de relations industrielles

Pamela Lirio is an Associate Professor in the School of Industrial Relations at the University of Montreal (Université de Montréal), specializing in international human resource management (IHRM), digital transformation in HR, and responsible artificial intelligence (AI). She is also a co-researcher in OBVIA, the International Observatory on the Societal Impacts of AI and Digital Technology , working in both English and French on the impact to “Industry 4.0, Work and Employment”. Dr. Lirio has a PhD in Management (OB/HR) from McGill University and has received funding for her research from the FRQSC, SSHRC, Mitacs, and the Québec Ministry of Economy and Innovation. She has published in top ranked academic journals such as Human Resource Management, the International Journal of Human Resource Management, and MIT Sloan Management Review and is on the Editorial board of Digital Business Journal. Additionally, she maintains close connections to global HR practice and professional associations by volunteer-leading the Canadian delegation of the global HR association: Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and as a member of advisory committees of Les Sources Humaines and the Quebec Order of Certified HR Professionals, CRHA. Dr. Lirio has been named to the Most Inclusive HR Influencer List since 2020, blogging frequently on the topics of digital technologies, global work, and diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI), thus creating unique opportunities to disseminate research and best practices to a broad audience of academics and practitioners.
